CHEMICAL RESURFACING EXFOLIATION certification COURSE DESCRIPTION
This stand-alone certification provides licensed professionals with the required training under Colorado Rule 1.9(A) to safely and legally perform chemical resurfacing exfoliation using superficial chemical exfoliants within Colorado’s approved scope of practice. Instruction includes skin analysis, ingredient categories, pH and acid strength fundamentals, contraindications, treatment procedures, chemical safety, sanitation, and applicable Colorado laws and rules.
*This training enables licensed professionals to competently perform chemical resurfacing exfoliation procedures as permitted under Colorado Rule 1.9(A).
This course is taught in English. Textbooks and course materials are only offered in the English Language.
CHEMICAL RESURFACING EXFOLIATION certification COURSE overview
Course Hours: 24 clock hours
The course is divided into theory instruction and supervised hands-on lab experience.
- Pre-clinical Classroom Instruction: 8 hours are dedicated to classroom-based theory covering chemical exfoliation fundamentals, pH and concentration behavior, ingredient categories (AHA, BHA, enzymes), contraindications, safety protocols, chemical handling, and applicable Colorado rules and regulations.
- Clinic Classroom Learning Experience: The remaining 16 hours are spent in supervised practical application, where students complete chemical exfoliation procedures, practice product selection, observe and manage visible skin reactions, and refine application timing and technique under instructor guidance.

Because this is an advanced certification for licensed professionals, the training is concise and focused. Learning is organized into two streamlined phases to reinforce foundational knowledge and ensure safe, compliant application of chemical resurfacing exfoliation techniques.
- Theory & Core Foundations (Classroom Instruction): This phase covers essential concepts required to safely perform chemical resurfacing services, including exfoliant chemistry, pH relationships, concentration guidelines, skin analysis, contraindications, treatment parameters, and applicable Colorado rules and regulations. Instruction is delivered through lecture, demonstration, and guided discussion.
- Clinic Classroom Learning Experience: In this phase, participants apply course concepts through hands-on practice. Under instructor supervision, licensed professionals perform chemical exfoliation applications, conduct patch tests, monitor visible reactions, implement safe timing and removal procedures, and complete guided practical exercises to build confidence and compliance in chemical resurfacing exfoliation services.
